Nintendo Switch Pre Order News: Stock Shortage Similar To NES Classic Expected To Happen Ahead Of March Release
Blair GrantThe Nintendo Switch will be officially launched in March, but it looks like the Japanese gaming company may have once again underestimated its demand. Sources claim that the availability of stocks for pre-orders are not enough to keep up with the demand, which is quite similar to the scenario that took place when Nintendo launched the NES Classic Edition.
Latest Nintendo Switch pre order news reveals that the Japanese gaming company may not be releasing enough stocks to supply retailers. As Express reports, retailers may allow pre orders, but it will be limited to around 20-30 units per store.
For example, US games retailer, Gamestop, will likely have a maximum of 30 units available for pre order per store. This does not seem enough for gamers, especially those who have been highly anticipating the release of the Nintendo Switch in the market.
Several retailers have not received any word from Nintendo regarding their stock allocation, so some users who pre ordered may not get their unit once it releases in March. This is quite similar to the scenario that users experienced when the company released the Nintendo NES Classic Edition in November.
The company faced stock shortage of the NES Classic, as Nintendo admitted to underestimating the demand for the classic gaming console. iDigitalTimes reports that the demand for Nintendo Switch, which retails at $299.99, appears to be bigger than expected.
According to the publication, the Nintendo Switch is already sold out in Japan ahead of its release on March 3. As a matter of fact, the demand for the console was so great that it crashed the My Nintendo store right after the website accepted orders for the new console.
The website reportedly allowed gamers to customize the colors of their Nintendo Switch. Some players were lucky enough to get their orders right through while the others were stuck with the page's error message.
