"Pillars of Eternity 2" has just been announced by Obsidian with the working title "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire". Obsidian is looking to raise $1.1 million up until Feb. 24 via Fig for the "Pillars of Eternity" sequel.

"Pillars of Eternity 2" storyline begins at the moment of return of the god of light and rebirth, Eothas, who was thought dead but has found its way in the stone titan lying dormant at Caed Nua's Keep. Eothas will emerge and will leave the main protagonist at the brink of death.

According to Feargus Urquhart, CEO of Obsidian, their goal in "Pillars 2" is to improve on what the fans of the original "Pillars of Eternity" loved and add features that fans would like to see in the sequel. Urquhart added that they placed more focus to address the too many "Pillars of Eternity" mob/filler fights that the first game was criticized on.

The 2nd "Pillars of Eternity" gameplay will be similar to the first one. A "Pillars of Eternity" player will be allowed to import the "Pillars 1" endgame saves.

Lead Designer for "Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" Josh Sawyer discussed that the focus of the "Pillars" sequel is "refinement, pacing and overall quality". Sawyer also said that though they are still making a huge game they still put much importance to the quality of the game's content.

"The Pillars of Eternity II" characters will be familiar as the game will be getting the characters from the first "Pillars of Eternity" and will just add some additional companions. The characters will have unique stories and will be changed depending on the choices that the "Pillarsof Eternity" player makes.

The crowdfunding for Obsidian's "The Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire" is currently life via Fig. The crowdfunding effort is set to end Feb. 24 with a target $1.1 million goal.
