MWC 2017: Sony To Announce Five New Xperia Models? Latest Xperia X Concept Adds Long-Awaited Battery Saver Feature
Vinay PatelSony recently released a new Concept build for Xperia X devices in a bid to bring in an array of awe-inspiring features, prior to rolling out the next Android Nougat update to compatible smartphones.
The recently rolled out experimental update to the Sony Xperia X Concept firmware bearing the build number 38.3.A.0.83 brings the long awaited Battery Saver feature.
Sony fans have been clamoring for the lauded STAMINA mode available in original Xperia firmware, which the company ousted in favor of Doze mode found in Android Marshmallow. Sony's newfangled Battery Saver feature attempts to bring back a slew of customizability of STAMINA mode.
Battery Saver offers multiple options to boost battery life when the phone's battery drops below a specific percentage. It's worth noting that users can select any level below 50%. Alternatively, the user can temporarily stop auto-sync, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and also fine-tune brightness/screen timeout. To access these options, go to Settings> Battery> Battery Saver.
On the photography front, Sony has introduced several new features including camera quick settings and camera app shortcuts, which allows the user to record a video or take a selfie picture in a jiffy. Moreover, VoLTE support has been extended to Vodafone in Spain and EE/Three in the UK. This is expected to be a favorable move citing the magnitude of these carriers in their own countries, according to XperiaBlog.
Meanwhile, Sony could be gearing up to unveil five brand new Xperia smartphones this year, if a new leak is anything to go by. Not too long ago, Sony sent out invites for a press event scheduled to take place on Feb. 27 at the looming MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017 in Barcelona.
Now, a recently surfaced leak suggests that the Japanese handset maker will take the wraps off five new Xperia smartphones, FirstPost reported. It's worth noting that the source behind the aforesaid speculation isn't quite credible, meaning, this should be taken with a huge grain of salt until Sony either confirms or debunks this rumor. Here's a look at the purported five new Xperia smartphones:
Sony Yoshino: Sony's upcoming flagship bearing the moniker, 'Yoshino,' will sport a 5.5-inch 4K display. It will pack Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset coupled either with a 4GB or 6GB of RAM and will feature Sony's latest IMX400 camera sensor.
Sony BlancBright: Another device dubbed as 'BlancBright' will come with identical features, but with QHD resolution. A Snapdragon 653 SoC is expected to fire up the device, which will pack 4GB of RAM and IMX400 camera sensor.
Sony Keyaki (Zelkova): Next, the Sony 'Keyaki (Zelkova)' will use a 5.2-inch Full HD panel and will be powered by MediaTek's Helio P20 chipset. It will have 4GB of RAM, a mammoth 64GB of internal storage and 23MP primary camera and 16MP front shooter.
Sony Hinoki (Cypress): There are two more budget offerings, the Sony 'Hinoki (Cypress),' which has a 5-inch HD display, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. On the photography front, it has a 16MP primary camera and an 8MP front snapper.
Sony Mineo: Lastly, there is the economical Sony Mineo, which will reportedly cost about $350.
