'Pillars Of Eternity II: Deadfire' Has Just Been Announced; Expect The Game To Be Out In 2018
Ceage SottoObsidian's critically acclaimed RPG "Pillars of Eternity" is going to have a sequel. The studio announced the news last Thursday after raising the $1.1 million target in less than a day. The game was crowdfunded by Fig, a popular crowdfunding platform for games.
"Pillars Of Eternity: Deadfire" is now officially kicking off and will be out in the first quarter of 2018. Like the game's predecessor, the new RPG will be based on classic isometric RPGs. It will be similar to popular old school games like "Baldur's Gate," and "Planescape: Torment."
Obsidian is hoping to translate the massive fan support into a "truly living" game world. The company will feature more freedom to explore and define each character's role. This is something that fans are looking for "Pillars of Eternity 2."
The storyline will once again bring players back to the world of Eora. Fans are hoping that the sequel will equally have a compelling story like the first "Pillars of Eternity."
Players will be tasked to hunt a god in the uncharted Deadfire Archipelago. To enhance the game's storytelling and gameplay, narrative elements will be based on the players' decision. It will also reflect the previous decision that was made in the original "Pillars of Eternity" game.
"Pillars Of Eternity: Deadfire's" map will comprise of hundreds of islands spanning thousands of miles. It will range different environments ranging from lush tropics to barren deserts. Most of the lands have never been charted. Other lands are inhabited by rich native cultures with a mix of new colonial settlers.
According to Forbes, Obsidian estimates that the game will be delivered in 2018. The game will be available on Steam, GOG, Windows, Mac and Linux systems. Hopefully, it wouldn't share the same development delays like its predecessor.
Backers that pledged $1,000 will either become an NPC or have their portrait included in the game. Stay tuned for more updates.
