Moto Z 2017 is speculated to debut a technology that is not available in the first generation model. However, not all of its specs are promising as it did not push for a higher RAM. Nevertheless, users may still appreciate the upgraded Moto Z if they liked the original version especially with the addition of more security.

Motorola's upcoming 2017 flagship device is expected to sport an iris scanner. This is the first time that the company will embed the highly technological security feature in its Moto Z series. Though the second generation device is still patterned with the design of the original model, the implementation of the iris scanner makes it different.

Interestingly, reports claimed that Lenovo has ordered a patent filing for iris scanning technology that will be installed in the Moto Z 2017, Digital Trends reported. With the addition of an iris scanner, users could take advantage of more security options through biometric authentication. As per the patent filing, the iris scanner will be installed alongside the front camera, BGR reported.

The narrow-angled lenses of the scanner would allow the device to trace the position of the user's eyes even if the person is not actually looking at the phone directly. Even with the presence of a new biometric security option, Moto Z 2017 would still sport a regular fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint technology will still remain in its original place underneath the home button.

However, Moto Z 2017 specs came a little short of RAM. Unlike newer smartphone models that come with 6GB RAM, the second generation device only equips 4GB. It will then be powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor, reportedly. The Geekbench listing of the smartphone achieved 1930 and 6207, single-core score and multi-core score, respectively.

Moto Z 2017 is expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017. Motorola nor Lenovo have confirmed its specs yet, however. See how the device looks below.
