Ceage SottoAndroid 7.1.2 beta is ready to roll out with compatible devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program. Google announced that the new update will refine the operating systems' pre-existing features. The company behind the world's most used OS platform will bring in new enhancements.
The beta build is currently being distributed to beta testers enrolled in the Beta Program. The devices include Google's Pixel and Pixel XL, Nexus 5X and Nexus Player.
The Pixel C will also be included, but the Nexus 6P did not make the cut. According to Google, the beta update for the smartphone is still under development. However, the company did clarify that the beta update for the 6P will be out soon.
Interested testers may register at Google's Android Beta Program. Enrolled users will receive the public beta as an over-the-air update (OTA). The company's engineering VP, Dave Burke stated the beta update will arrive in the next few days.
Users who would opt to manually update their phones may also do it by themselves. Enrolled users would just have to be patient, according to the VP. The announcement first came via the Android Developers Blog. Burke also said that they are expecting to launch the final release of the Android 7.1.2 "months from now."
Google stated that it's expecting to release the final build of Android 7.1.2 in a couple of months. The final stable build will only be updated via OTA to eligible devices that were mentioned earlier. The company has confirmed that the upcoming Android 7.1.2 won't land on Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 devices.
Several Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 owners were not enthusiastic about the news. In the comment section of Android Police, users have weighed in on the latest beta update and most of the user comments reveal that owners are excited for the Android 7.1.2. beta. Google has not yet indicated the release date of both the Android 7.1.2 beta and final 7.1.2 build.
