Tesla Model 3 cancellations may not gain momentum; Production to begin from mid-2017
Ritwik RoyTesla is expected to start Model 3 production in mid-2017 and hit volume production at the end of the year. It is one of the most-anticipated electric vehicles and has been that for a long time now. People have shown tremendous trust in Tesla and its owner Elon Musk. However, a recent comment by Musk, involving US President Donald Trump's executive order to ban people from certain countries, has created a lot of backlash to the extent that some Tesla Model 3 pre-orders have been reportedly cancelled.
According to Electrek, Tesla Model 3 received an overwhelming number of pre-orders that now stands at nearly 400,000 pre-orders. Reservation holders paid $1,000 as deposit to pre-order a Model 3. News of cancellation has already been reported on social media where even hardcore Tesla fans have canceled their pre-orders in order to take a stand. Interestingly, Musk in fact disapproved President Trump's executive order but his disapproval was reportedly not strong enough for some Tesla fans.
While it is doubtful that a cancellation movement will gain enough momentum to dent Tesla's image, it is a signal for companies to be careful when commenting on social media. The Tesla Model 3 is one of the most-anticipated electric vehicles of 2017 and the hype it has generated along with the demand it has received is simply extraordinary. However, people may not be aware of the grand plan that Tesla CEO Elon Musk has and how he wants to achieve it via Model 3 and other Tesla EVs.
The master plan is to move from a hydrocarbon economy to a solar electric economy. Centralized electricity perpetuates reliance on fossil fuels. Greenhouse gas emissions from fossil fuels have reached a catastrophic stage. Read more to know how Tesla Model 3 can change the environment in a positive way.
