Android 7.1.2 Update: Google Releases Android 7.1.2 Nougat Beta Update For Pixel & Nexus Phones [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelGoogle recently confirmed that it is gearing up to roll out an additive update for its lauded Android Nougat operating system (OS).
The looming Android 7.1.2 update is expected to focus on trivial refinements and bug fixes. In addition, the update will boast an array of user and carrier enhancements coupled with a few optimizations.
While the final build for the Android 7.1.2 is nowhere close to being ready, at least for two more months, the public beta of the upcoming Android OS update is up for grabs on the Android developer website. However, downloading Android Nougat 7.1.2 could get tedious with device compatibility in the picture.
Android 7.1.2 Beta - Which Devices Are Supported
Aside from Pixel C devices, other devices enrolled in the Android Beta Program comprise Nexus Player, Nexus 5X, Pixel XL, and Pixel. The search giant is currently prepping an update for its Nexus 6P smartphone, which is slated to roll out in near future, according to a post on Android Developers Blog by Dave Burke, VP of Engineering.
It's worth noting that only those who have subscribed for the Android Beta Program can download the latest firmware. A user can go to android.com/beta website and register to subscribe. Registered members will get OTA (over-the-air notifications) on the upcoming beta firmware releases.
Android 7.1.2 Beta - How To Download & Install
Enthusiastic users who do not prefer waiting for the OTA notification can get their hands on the firmware image by heading to the Android Developer Preview website. Once here, the user can select the Android image for his/her own device.
It is imperative for users to know that manual Android firmware installation requires prior knowledge of the process. A single mistake can lead to "bricking" or even corrupting the main operating system. Thus, after downloading the firmware image, users must back up their devices and then proceed ahead with the installation process, which is explained on Google's developer's website.
There's no word regarding the public release of Android 7.1.2; however, Google is likely to debut the new OS sooner rather than later.
