Does Your Start Menu On Windows 10 Not Working? Here Are 5 Ways To Fix The Problem
Cris Xander JulianoOne of the main reasons Windows 10 has been more popular than previous versions is the return of the "Start Menu." However, a few users are experiencing bugs in the system wherein the same isn't functioning properly. To help you get back on track, here are a few helpful tips to make the Start Menu working normally again, according to Mobipicker.
Restart the system
Sometimes, it is very effective just by restarting the system to get the Start Menu working again. If you are unable to access the "Restart" button via the Start Menu, use Alt and F4 instead.
Powershell
If restarting the system did not work for you, open the command prompt then type Powershell and press enter. Then type et-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"} then press enter.
Troubleshooter
If that still didn't work, try this application. Download the Troubleshooter and then double-click to run the program. It will diagnose the problem and when it's finished, restart the system and see if it solved the issue.
Add New User
You should also try to add a new user by opening the command prompt, type net user username /add and press enter. The username can be anything of your choice. Restart the system and try logging in with your new username.
Edit the Registry
This is only recommended for advanced users. Editing the Registry may enable the Start Menu to work properly again. To do so, search for regedit.exe and then run the program. From there, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ ImmersiveShell\Launcher click Edit, New, DWORLD(32bit) Value, and name it "UseExperience." Double-click the newly created registry entry and set the value to 0. Next, save the settings by clicking "Ok" and restart the system.
If the procedures above failed to fix the problem, then you are one of the unfortunate ones who have the "Start Menu Not Working" bug in Windows 10. Microsoft is currently trying to fix this problem. You have two choices, try re-installing Windows 10 or switch back to previous versions of the operating system until Microsoft has the solution for the issue.
