LG Watch Style Design Revealed In Leaked Photo; Features Listed Hours Before Launch
Ceage SottoIn a couple of days, LG will be unveiling the much-awaited Watch Style and LG Watch Sport. However, leaks of the actual packaging for the upcoming Android Wear 2.0 device are circulating on the web.
According to Pocket-Lint, a Best Buy employee allegedly took a snap of the smartwatch. It's still unclear what happened to the employee after it was posted online, but the image apparently shows the LG Watch Style's final design. Both the LG Watch Style and LG Watch Sport are expected to be announced in February 9.
Both watches are the first to feature Android Wear 2.0. LG and Google collaborated to develop the smartwatch. If the photos are true, this would corroborate previous renders of the device. The leaked photos also show a new black/space gray finish.
Previously, the LG Watch Sport specs have been revealed, thanks to a leaked benchmark test. The smartwatch will have a 1.09 quad-core Qualcomm processor, probably from the Snapdragon Wear range. It will have 653MB of usable RAM from 768MB.
The Watch Sport will run on Android Wear 2.0, the motherboard field says "swordfish." The name refers to an earlier codename from LG.
Unlike the Watch Sport, the Watch Style's specs have not yet been publicly divulged. Enthusiasts might have to wait for further announcements from LG.
Both watches will reportedly be unveiled at an event in February 9. LG has not yet commented on the smartwatch's global availability. The Watch Style is set to retail with a $249 price tag while the more feature-packed Watch Sport will likely cost $349.
In other news, TechRadar has allegedly uncovered more information about the watch's features. That is, it can assist users in making mobile payments. In the same article, both the LG Watch Sport and Watch Style will likely debut the Google Assistant. Users will just have to say "OK Google" to start the feature.
Google Assistant will allow users to send text, set an alarm and access Google Fit features, among others. LG has not commented on the authenticity of the leaks, so stay tuned for updates.
