Samsung Chromebook Pro News And Updates: Rumored To Sport 8GB Or Even 16GB Of RAM For Google Play Store Support In The Future!
Cris Xander JulianoSamsung unveiled two Chromebook models during the Electronic Consumer Show 2017; Chromebook Plus and the Chromebook Pro. Although no release date has been announced for the Chromebook Pro, it is reportedly going to sport an 8GB or even 16GB of RAM according to Slash Gear.
The report is based on a code commit to Chromium, which is the open source base of Chrome OS that suggests the operating system is getting support for a Samsung memory component capable of handling as much as 16GB of RAM.
Having 8GB or 16GB of RAM in today's lineup of laptops shouldn't be surprising. However, Chromebooks are designed to have mid-range or even low-end specs for those users on a tight budget. Unlike laptops that are running the heavy-duty Windows operating system.
Samsung's Chromebooks will feature powerful processors, higher resolutions and will come with styluses that will adapt to growing demands by the business, as well as education sectors. Also, Chromebooks will have support to the Google Play Store in the near future, so having that much RAM will be convenient and allows support to additional apps for the device.
Unfortunately, the 8 to 16 GB of RAM is rumored to be only for the Chromebook Pro with its Intel Core M3 processor running under its hood. The Chromebook Plus on the other hand, will not be able to support this much RAM with its ARM-powered processor.
It is important to know that Samsung has not announced any details regarding their upcoming Chromebooks' RAM and these are only speculations.
