The South Korean tech giant seems to be on track to launch the much-touted phablet, the Galaxy Note 2, at the IFA event in Berlin later this month. Will the Taiwanese smartphone maker, HTC, try to steal the thunder from Samsung with the launch of its rumored 6435 LVW phablet?
The recent release of a video teaser for Galaxy Note 2 has sent a confirmation phablet enthusiasts' way that Samsung's next-gen device is on its way and will hit the shelves soon.
South Korean media reports suggest that the Galaxy Note 2 will sport a 5.5-inch display Super AMOLED screen with 1680x1050 pixel resolution. The device will be powered by a more powerful 1.6 GHz quad-core Exynos processor with 2GB of RAM. The phablet will have a 12-megapixel rear-facing camera with an enhanced sensor. Rumors claim that Samsung may change the screen ratio of the new device to 16:9, an improvement when compared to the original Galaxy Note which has a 16:10 screen ratio.
On the other hand, the HTC 6435 LVW is speculated to have a 5-inch screen with 1794x1080 pixels display resolution. Rumors indicate that the device will be running on a 1.5GHz Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The S4 Pro processor provides a powerful Adreno 320 GPU, which is capable of very high performance.
Users will be hoping for both phablets to run on the latest Android Jelly Bean platform. The video teaser of the Galaxy Note 2 depicts a stylus on the device. "This time around, however, HTC will probably opt to include the stylus in the box rather than making folks pony up for an optional accessory. Samsung Galaxy Note owners get one right off the bat, after all," indicate previous reports.
Samsung's devices have made a strong impact on the smartphone, phablet, and tablet market. HTC, once the Android market leader, has lost its market share to Samsung by a significant margin in the last year. With the launch of HTC 6435 LVW will the Taiwanese company, known for producing high quality innovative handsets, reclaim the spot?
