'Hollow Knight' Might Be This Year's Best Looking 2D Indie Game; Set To Be Released On PC & Nintendo Switch [Watch]
Ceage SottoIndie Game titles have just gotten bigger with the addition of "Hollow Knight." The Kickstarter game project developed by Team Cherry will be out on Steam on February 24.
Despite its humble beginnings, "Hollow Knight" is drawing quite the chatter. Aside from taking a nostalgic trip into the Metroid universe, the game has a unique appeal. It is designed and developed by a group of a group of friends that quit their jobs in pursuit of creating an indie title.
The release trailer has almost reached 100,000 views after a day. Team Cherry also announced the development of a Nintendo Switch version of the game. However, unlike the PC and Mac version that will be released later this month, there is still no definite release date for the Switch console.
First Take On Team Cherry's 'Hollow Knight'
According to the game's Steam page, it sets players as the "Hollow Knight." They must delve and explore the kingdom of Hallownest to uncover its mysteries, including the disappearance of villagers and explorers that went into the kingdom.
"Hollow Knight" is closely associated with "Metroid" and "Castlevania" games. However, the game's aesthetic is far from previous 2D platform games. The game's atmosphere is charming, but it also sets the mood for protagonist's quest.
Game Mechanics & Features
"Hollow Knight" allows players to battle with a plethora of enemy creatures. From gladiator flies dutiful dung beetles, the game is rich with unique content. Players will experience something different from previous 2D games. To set the mood players are greeted with cute and friendly bug companions in the start of their journey.
The game also has tons of collectibles and power-ups to acquire. With over 30 bosses to defeat and a huge map to explore, the game can take hours of fun and engaging gameplay.
It is set to be released on February 24 on GOG, Humble and On Steam for PC and Mac. There is still no announced release date for "Hollow Knight" for the Nintendo Switch.
