'Undertale' Belongs To List Of Multi-Awarded Games, But Still Unrecognized; Here's What You Need to Know
Dannel Picaccio Camille Perez Lozano"Undertale" is one of the games that many can agree on being one of the less known titles to date, if not completely unknown. So far, the scarce information on the title could make it a game-changing addition to the existing generation of playables.
According to a blog post under Simmons Voice, the current formula for role-playing games has become quite a cliché or somewhat generic. This mostly surrounds the concept of a hero getting ready to take on a group of monsters or enemies, gaining experience and becoming more powerful along the way. This is the particular concept that "Undertale" looks to change and, despite its anonymity, it has garnered the attention of most gaming companies straight off the bat.
Made by Toby Fox, one of the people behind "Homestuck," the independent role-playing game "Undertale" came out in September 15, 2015, immediately flooding itself with a plethora of awards and good reviews. These include a 10 out of 10 rating from both IGN and Destructoid, as well as getting five stars from USgamer.
More than that, "Undertale" was bestowed the Audience Award from the Independent Games Festival Awards, along with Game of the Year care of The Jimquisition and Zero Punctuation. Lastly, it was recognized as the Most Fulfilling Crowdfunded Game and was awarded by SXSW Gaming respectively.
As per the official "Undertale" site, the game shows one character trekking through what the game explained as a gigantic realm of monsters. The character is represented by an icon without a gender guise. As the character rolls on, players can choose whether the monsters within the world are good to befriend or slaughter. However, the choices are immensely critical and could affect the weight of the game entirely.
"Undertale" is also identified as nearly sentient -- knowing when a player does something fishy and brings about something different with every game. Also, various endings rise through the player's choices, allowing gamers to try on different methods each time. "Undertale" is available for only $10 for the Windows, OS and Linux platforms through Steam.
