‘Pokemon GO’ Update News: Players Beat Game With New Eevee Evolution Trick

Athena Dee

Earlier in 2016, avid “Pokemon GO” players managed to figure out how to obtain Vaporeon, Flareon, and Jolteon. Now, they have uncovered a trick that can turn their Eevees into Umbreons or Espeons.

The latest “Pokemon GO” update brought with it a variety of new pocket monsters that originated from the franchise’s “Gold” and “Silver” series. Two of these newly added creatures are evolved versions of Eevee. Espeon, a Psychic Pokemon, and Umbreon, a Dark Pokemon, are reportedly two of the most popular creatures that can be found within the core games. That said, their arrival was not really much of a surprise.

What was surprising was when “Pokemon GO” players revealed that “catching” them into the Pokedex was not hard at all. Apparently, there was no need to stake out at a certain spawn area. All “Pokemon GO” players would have to do is to ensure that there are 25 candies required for evolving Eevee then edit its name. To get Espeon, change the name to Sakura. To evolve Eevee into Umbreon, simply edit the name to Tamao.

Once edited, the “Pokemon GO” app must be restarted. This step will ensure that the changes will be saved in the game’s servers. A multitude of players have taken to Reddit to confirm that this “Pokemon GO” Eevee-centric trick worked for them.

It must be noted, however, that neither Niantic nor The Pokemon Company had affirmed that the trick actually worked. Still, it cannot be denied that the technique garnered expected results for many “Pokemon GO” players so far.

The discovery of this trick surfaced in the wake of the game’s big Johto update. Since its launch, both satisfied and dissatisfied gamers have taken to the Internet to express their concerns. Interestingly, very shortly following the release, “Pokemon GO” fans are now asking for the next update.
