'Friday The 13th: The Game' Release Updates: Game Not Canceled; Still Releasing in 2017
Keisuke Akio"Friday The 13th: The Game" is still releasing any time in 2017. The team behind the title confirmed this amidst the heavy speculations, after Paramount canceled the "Friday the 13th" series.
Paramount scrapped the upcoming second reboot of the Friday the 13th series, which was scheduled to hit the theaters in October 2017. The move is reportedly related to Paramount's low box office returns with Rings, as well as the upcoming rights transfer to New Line Cinema.
This news had the gaming community in a bustle as fans began to worry about the fate of the wildly popular "Friday the 13th: The Game." The IP of Jason Voorhees is owned by the same set of people and many are concerned if Jason Voorhees would ever again grace the screens on their PC and consoles.
Fans need not worry, however, because "Friday the 13th: The Game" is still on schedule. The developers confirmed this on Twitter saying that they are in no way affiliated with the movie. The team also claimed that they are hard at work to come out in "early 2017."
"Friday the 13th: The Game" on its closed beta period was the most-streamed game on Twitch.tv. Many became hooked with its irregular multiplayer and primitive horror gore. The balance did seem to be an issue for some, according to Game Revolution, as Jason appeared to be able to slash through camps with ease.
The "Friday the 13th: The Game" release window has become very vague in the minds of "F13" fans. The developers deliberately had it this way so as not to overpromise and underdeliver. The more important thing right now is that the multiplayer version of the game is still scheduled for a release sometime this year. On the other hand, the single-player campaign of "Friday the 13th: The Game" is due to release in the summer of 2017.
