Google Rounds Up Feedbacks For Pixel & Pixel XL; Plans The Design & Features For Next Smartphone
Regin OlimberioGoogle starts rounding up what users thought of Pixel and Pixel XL, in hopes of gathering enough feedback on what can be improved for its next iteration. Pixel project lead Krishna Kumar took on the user community and asked about what people hate about the device so as to give room for improvement.
Kumar admits that while there is positive response about Pixel being a noteworthy Android phone with outstanding performance and camera, the device is far from perfect. Mobile VR-ready Daydream is another great feature that sets Pixel apart.
According to the Pixel User Community, some of the changes that users want is a design makeover. While aluminum chassis is great, it lacks the waterproofing capability of other smartphones. Chunky bezels made Pixel just OK instead of becoming a stunner with a streamlined build. When taken alongside other smartphones, Google's offering doesn't really stand out and looks more like an "average" design.
Secondly, the single speaker setup of the Pixel at the bottom of the phone has a weaker volume compared to Google Nexus. The defunct Nexus sports a dual stereo speaker firing from the front that delivers a crisp and loud sound.
For aesthetics, some users suggest that the back of the phone should incorporate the G logo instead of a plain round fingerprint sensor. Pixel is also a bit fat compared to competitors due to Google's decision to incorporate a higher capacity battery instead of making the phone as thin as possible, Mashable said.
Lastly, issues like stock, pricing and aftermarket support come to play as well. Pixel ad Pixel XL were sold out just three months after release and re-stocking is slow. For updates and support, it is a common notion that Google is supporting Pixel for three years after release.
