'Pillars Of Eternity 2: Deadfire' Crowdfunding Campaign Ends With $4.4million In Pledges
JPThe "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" Fig crowdfunding campaign has just ended and to say that it was a success will be an understatement. Obsidian's upcoming video game managed to rake in $4.4million in pledges making it the most successful crowdfunding video game campaign since 2015.
The first "Pillars of Eternity" video game from obsidian was also a huge crowdfunding success. The game gathered $3.98million in pledges during its 2012 Kickstarter crowdfunding project and has remained as one of the top 25 crowdfunded projects on Kickstarter.
In 2015, Obsidian occupied a seat on the advisory board of Fig. A new crowdfunding platform back then, Fig featured a reward-based crowdfunding platform with equity investment. "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deafire" is the first Obsidian video game to be crowdfunded in Fig.
The initial target of the "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" Fig crowdfunding campaign was to get $1.1million in pledges. When the crowdfunding campaign ended on Feb. 25, the Obsidian video game did not only hit its target but was able to quadruple the goal.
The "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" crowdfunding campaign was able to get a total of $4,407,598 in pledges. The amount was gathered from 33,614 backers.
Out of the $4,407,598 pledges earned by the "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" Fig crowdfunding campaign, $2.25million came from investments. The other $2.15million gathered from the crowdfunding effort was through traditional pledges.
With the $2.25milllion in the form of investments, "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" is Fig's most successful video game in terms of equity funding. The total $4,407,598 gathered pledges also makes the game the most successful crowdfunded game since 2015.
The "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" Fig crowdfunding effort was able to hit its $1.1million target in less than 24 hours and was able to break the $3million threshold earlier this week. The "Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire" release date is scheduled in Q1 2018.
