Google Nexus 6P To Get The Latest Android Security Patch Next Week
Vittorio HernandezOn March 7, Tuesday, Vodafone would start the roll out of the latest Android security patch to the Google Nexus 6P. The update, which weighs 39MB, would have build number N4F26T.
Three-Phase Roll Out
Vodafone would release the Android security patch in three phases. In the first phase, 10,000 Google Nexus 6P phones selected at random would receive it until March 10. Then the remaining 10 percent of the remaining Nexus 6P phones would receive the patch the next 10 days.
Those Nexus 6P phones that have not received the Android security patch would get it in from March 20, GSM Arena reports. Also beginning March 7, other gadgets that Google handles directly would begin getting the Android security patch for March.
It means users of the Nexus 6P, the 2015 flagship that runs on the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat, would get the Android security patch for March. But Nougat 6P phones that are part of the beta program and currently with version 7.1.2 of the Nougat 7 OS, since it is still being tested, would not be part of the update, Nashville Chatter Class explains.
OTA Notification
The Nexus 6P phones that would be picked randomly to receive the latest Android security update within the first batch of roll out would be informed through an over-the-air notification. Phones that would miss out the initial random selection could do a manual check and see if the files are ready to download on the Nexus 6P.
Owners of those Nexus 6P phones could go to Settings --> About Device --> System updates and they would know if the latest Android security update is ready. If it is not, rather than regularly checking it, wait instead for the OTA notification. Next in line to receive the updates are the Nexus 5X, Pixel C tablet and the 2016 Pixel and Pixel XL phones.
