New Google Android One Budget Smartphone Unveiled, First Android One To Have Fingerprint Sensor
JPA new Google Android One budget smartphone has just been unveiled. The new budget smartphone using Google's platform will be manufactured by General Mobile, a Turkish manufacturer.
Reports about a new Android One budget smartphone have been scarce lately. This has led for others to believe that the search engine's initiative to provide low cost smartphones is already dead. This is, however, proved wrong with the recent release of General Mobile 6 or GM6.
The new Google Android One budget smartphone has the same generic look that other handsets in the same line have. The GM6 features a 5-inch 720p display. The new budget smartphone's rear camera will be 13 megapixel while the front camera will be 8 megapixel.
The GM6 Google Android One budget smartphone will have a MediaTek MT6737T processor under its hood. It will also feature 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
According to Digital Trends, the General Mobile 6 performs well considering its specs. The only major criticism it had was that the budget smartphone's camera app was a bit buggy.
Also, the GM6 features a fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor is located in its home button. The GM6 will be the first Google budget phone to feature a fingerprint sensor, which is surprising given its price range.
General Mobile is yet to release details about the new low cost smartphone. It is, however, expected that the new Google Android One price will be within the range of other budget phones, which is $100 to $200.
The GM6 will exclusively be released in Turkey. The new budget smartphone is expected to be released within this year.
There have been reports that Google is planning to introduce a Google Android One budget smartphone in the United States. The tech giant is reportedly looking for partner manufacturers to introduce the budget smartphone line in US.
