Microsoft chief executive Satya Nadella alluded to the upcoming Surface Phone as an awe-inspiring piece of tech, not too long ago. As expected, this beefed up the already massive hype for the highly anticipated smartphone, which is still subject to all sorts of rumors and leaks.

Interestingly, the Redmond-based tech behemoth has opted to remain tight-lipped regarding the Surface Phone's details including the device's specs, features, price and of course, an exact release date. Nevertheless, the rumor mill is up and running at full force, churning a slew of speculations around the long-awaited smartphone.

 Microsoft's Surface line of products comprising Surface Pro, Surface Studio, and Surface Book have been well-received worldwide so it's hardly surprising that gadget freaks have restlessly been waiting for the Surface Phone's arrival. But much to their chagrin, it looks like the huge Surface fanbase is in for a really long wait.

According to a tech tipster, who claims to be a former Microsoft employee, Windows 10 ARM is nowhere close to completing. The same employee also predicted that Microsoft Surface Phone will not hit the store shelves until late 2018 or even 2019, Inquisitr reported.

Microsoft Surface Phone Specs & Features

Microsoft's upcoming smartphone is expected to boast an array of jaw-dropping features and finest hardware. The Surface Phone will most likely come in three different variants including a 5.7-inch model, which could pack Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 835 system-on-chip and run on Windows 10 Mobile OS (64-bit version), Express reported.

Moreover, the Surface Phone will offer a wide range of storage and RAM options i.e. 3GB RAM / 32GB storage, 6GB RAM / 128GB storage and 8GB RAM / 500GB storage. In terms of connectivity, the device will include a USB Type-C port. On the photography front, Microsoft Surface Phone will be capable of running EC-like environment with an option to add a keyboard and mouse externally.
