Nokia is aiming attacks squarely at the new Apple iPhone 5 by comparing that device with the Nokia Lumia 920. In a Facebook post, Nokia went all-out, highlighting the features of the Lumia 920 compared to the Apple iPhone 5. In a one-sided comparison like this, it is obvious which smartphone will come out on top.
The Lumia 920 features an 8.7 megapixel camera with a Carl Zeiss lens and PureView technology, while the iPhone 5's camera is an 8 megapixel shooter with a few enhancements of its own. Nokia left these enhancements out of its comparison chart.
When it comes to the display of both handsets, the Nokia Lumia 920 features a 4.5-inch PureMotion HD+ display with 1280x768 resolution at 332 ppi and technology that makes it sensitive enough to use with gloves. The iPhone 5 has a 4-inch Retina Display that offers 1136x640 pixels at 326 ppi. The charging system on the Lumia 920 packs support for wireless charging, which is built into the device. This is not found on the iPhone 5, but it might not be a barrier to the majority of users who want a smartphone. Nokia gives itself points for its mapping software and the City Lens augmented feature found in the Lumia 920. The iPhone 5 manages 3D mapping via the much-criticized Apple Maps.
Many other features found on the iPhone 5 were left out of Nokai's comparison, which fortunately does not purport to be unbiased.
The company will definitely have a hard time convincing users to choose the Lumia 920 over the iPhone 5, but at this rate, Nokia might very well change the perspective of some smartphone buyers.
