New Mac Pro, Mac Mini, and Possible 8K Apple Display Coming Out Soon
Charles LimApple recently made some surprising announcements regarding the future of their desktop products, specifically the Apple Mac Pro, the Mac Mini, and an upcoming new Pro display. The news is, of course, a welcomed one by Mac enthusiast as the company has all but neglected this particular segment for the past couple of years.
According to Mac Rumors, the Mac Pro hasn't really been updated for over three years. Fans who were looking forward to a new iteration were previously disappointed when Apple simply released minor updates for the Pro desktop. However, Apple has promised that they will be completely rethinking the Mac Pro and will be redesigning it to come with a more modular setup. This would allow users to gradually upgrade the device, resulting in it having a longer lifespan as the years go by.
As for the planned Apple-branded display, a report from Pike's Universum claims that the device could be coming with an impressive 8K resolution display. Other manufacturers are continuing to push the envelope with their display as well, with Dell leading the pack. Dell previously launched their new 32-inch UltraSharp 8K monitor, but it, unfortunately, came with a staggering $5,000 price tag.
As the display technology progresses, prices for 8K display should decrease gradually. Apple currently does offer 5K displays, as found on the iMac with the Retina 5K Display. Apple also released an UltraFine 5K display, which was created through a partnership with LG.
As for the Mac Mini, reports have revealed that Apple may be upgrading the system to sport beefier internals this time around. The overall design would also reportedly be larger than ever before, which is likely necessary to accommodate its upgraded specs. Apple mentioned the Mac Mini specifically during its announcement and explained that it is still very important to its overall product lineup. However, the company didn't really reveal any specific details on their plans for the compact desktop computer.
