iPhone 8 Release Date Postponed By One To Two Months? Here's Why [VIDEO]
Vinay PatelThe upcoming iPhone 8 has been floating around the rumor mill since Apple announced the iPhone 7 later last year. While back-fence talks continue hinting at all sorts of exciting features for the new iPhone, a recently surfaced shred of information is unlikely to gladden the coveted smartphone's huge fanbase.
Smartphone enthusiasts have been waiting with bated breath for the successor of the recently released iPhone 7, but much to their chagrin, it looks like they're in for a long wait. According to Bloomberg, the highly anticipated 10th anniversary iPhone 8 release date has been postponed. The publication claims that the device will arrive one to two months later than expected.
The website attributes the iPhone 8's delayed launch to supply restrictions, which indicates the handset won't be anywhere close to hitting the store shelves until one or two months even after the traditional fall announcement. But fret not, the iPhone maker could compensate for the delayed arrival by releasing three phones this September.
The upcoming smartphones from Apple comprise two upgrades of previously launched devices and a brand spanking new device with curved OLED screen. The newfangled Apple phone is expected to oust the home button in favor of a 'Function Area.'
Moreover, the Cupertino-based tech titan is planning to embed fingerprint sensor beneath the OLED; however, this implementation is no child's play and is taking longer than expected, according to GSM Arena. As a result, the production schedule of the new iPhone got pushed back.
The aforesaid theory completely aligns with previously surfaced reports from Japanese website Mac Otakara (via Mac Rumors). The website also suggests the new iPhone will come bearing the 'Edition' moniker and iPhone fans will need to shell out upwards of $1,000 to get their hands on the long-rumored smartphone.
There's also hearsay that the iPhone 8 will boast a new front camera geared with 3D face mapping feature. Furthermore, there will be a dual-camera setup, which according to Apple analysts will work with the help of an infrared sensor. The tech can be employed not only for security purposes but also for deeper AR filters and masks.
Apparently, embedding a fingerprint scanner under the OLED was one of the key ideas Samsung was working on while making its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8; however, that didn't quite come to fruition. The Galaxy S8 now comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner instead.
