Google Messages Quietly Introduces Ultra HDR Image Support in RCS Chats
Austin JayThe team of the app, Google Messages, is working hard to improve the experience of Android texting among their users by adding more features and add-ons.
One of these new features is the addition of Ultra HDR capability to RCS chats, which is currently available to Pixel 8 users.
Google Messages, which TheSpAndroid released, now supports Ultra HDR images. This feature is limited to RCS chats and is only accessible on Android 14.
Users who take Ultra HDR photos and use an Android 14 device-preferably from the Pixel 8 series-must enjoy this function.
Ultra HDR is a standard JPEG file that contains HDR information and can render standard photos on non-HDR displays. Enhanced color, better contrasts, and increased dynamism in HDR are brought about by this encoded data on the screens.
It is a straightforward way for users to post Ultra HDR images on RCS chats in Google Messages.
While the photos themselves are not marked "Ultra HDR", some features of the images reveal better qualities. This indicates that the app could preserve the HDR gain map, thus implying that the advanced format of images is likely to be sustainable and have a place in the SMS area.
It's odd that Google Messages' Ultra HDR support didn't come with the launching of the new series Pixel 08, as it was previously added to the application back in September.
Its seemingly inconspicuous presence, previously hitherto unheeded, even poses questions given the fact that Google had never advertised anything in a way that would have distinguished its messaging app.
However, pictures labeled as Ultra HDR do not have any distinctive mark that one can easily identify them once they get the pictures.
Currently, Google Messages is the only app that supports smooth transmission and viewing of Ultra HDR images. There will be fresh looks at features like an upgraded interface, text formatting, and even animated message reactions.
The changes could attract consumers away from applications such as Telegram, Whatsapp, and Snapchat. It's a hard fight to capture the market.
Despite this, google has not yet made an official announcement of its release date. It is due to be rolled out across android 14 running devices over the next few weeks.

Recently, Google announced some enhancements for its Bard AI chatbot. The upgrade was updated as a bulletin in the changelog of Bard meaning that the Bard YouTube Extension is about to undergo enlargement. The updated chatbot now understands as well as assesses particular contents of YouTube videos hence improves dialogue interactions with users.
At that time, when Bard was launched in September, it could not perform an in-detail analysis of YouTube videos and other sorts off video content like its extensions do for other Google services.
However, Bard has recently been updated to be able to scan videos from YouTube's streaming service hence more intelligent and in-depth conversation and answers surrounding some particular videos.
