Samsung Galaxy S24 Pre-Orders Witness Surge in South Korea, Higher Than Galaxy Note 10
Austin JayThe artificial intelligence phone Samsung developed for everyday use, the Galaxy S24, has had nothing but praise since being released on January 17. This smartphone series was opened for pre-order worldwide in a very short time. Within this period, its pre-order numbers have exceeded those of even Samsung's flagship' luxury range,' the Galaxy Note 10, to show uncharacteristically high early demand.
After the pre-order buy, the Galaxy S24 has undoubtedly become a sensation.
Also, Samsung's Galaxy S24 series takes a bold turn in China by collaborating with Baidu for AI features, breaking away from Google's Gemini models used in Western markets. The Chinese launch highlights Baidu's Ernie chatbot integration, offering translation, summarization, and text formatting.
This strategic shift aims to address Samsung's dwindling market presence in China, marked by a decline from 20% in 2013 to 1% in 2018, as the company seeks revival through local content partnerships.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 achieved such unprecedented pre-orders in its home country of South Korea that it handily outperformed the lofty benchmarks previously set by its venerable predecessor, the Galaxy Note 10, in a record-breaking display of consumer anticipation.
In the brief span of only seven days, since Samsung started accepting preorders on January 19 exclusively in South Korea for their latest flagship device, the Galaxy S24 has remarkably garnered over 1.21 million pledges from eager consumers wishing to secure their place among the first to experience the new phone.
With pre-orders averaging over 173,000 per day in the lead-up to its launch, the volume of pre-sales for Samsung's latest foldable handset had eclipsed what was seen previously for the Galaxy Note 10 lineup at a comparable stage. Remarkably, this signifies the most pre-orders tabulated for Samsung's premier Galaxy Note and Galaxy S product lines of their premium tier to date.
Samsung's stores, including the renowned Samsung Gangnam, experienced increased foot traffic following the announcement of the Galaxy S24. Heartened by the runaway achievement thus far, Samsung opted to prolong the booking timeframe from January 31 to February 8. Samsung offers various pre-order benefits for the Galaxy S24 series to further entice customers, including a complimentary storage upgrade.
Customers opting for the 256GB version of any Galaxy S24 series phone will receive the upgraded 512GB version at no additional cost.
The success story of the Galaxy S24 extends beyond South Korea, as even in India, the smartphone series has broken pre-booking records. Within three days, the Galaxy S24 garnered over 250,000 pre-orders, surpassing the pre-orders achieved by the Galaxy S23 series in three weeks. This positive trend is not limited to specific regions, as Samsung reports improved pre-order figures for the Galaxy S24 series in various global markets.

In a notable move, Samsung has introduced its Galaxy S24 lineup in China, and for its Galaxy AI features, the company has opted to collaborate with Baidu, a prominent Chinese tech giant. This marks a departure from using Google's Gemini foundational models, which power the Galaxy AI features in Western markets. The Chinese launch focused on leveraging Baidu's Ernie, a chatbot unveiled in August.
The AI capabilities on the Chinese version of the Galaxy S24 encompass familiar features such as translation, summarization, and text formatting, mirroring those introduced during its US-based launch.
Additionally, the Chinese variant includes real-time call translation and a localized version of Google's Circle to Search feature.
In their joint statement, Samsung and Baidu have highlighted Ernie's enhanced understanding and generation capabilities, emphasizing how the upgraded Samsung Note Assistant can seamlessly translate and summarize content with a single click.
This strategic move away from Google is likely attributed to the restricted presence of Google services in China, where Android devices are sold without essential Google apps.
