Nothing Phone Users Can Easily Access ChatGPT Voice Assistant from Their Home Screens
Austin JayUsers of the Nothing Phone (1) and (2) can now seamlessly access OpenAI's ChatGPT as a voice assistant directly from their phone's Quick Settings panel and home screens.
Nothing CEO Carl Pei shared this exciting development on X over the weekend. To activate this feature, users must install the official ChatGPT Android app from the Google Play Store and use its voice chat functionality at least once.
Following this, they can add the ChatGPT shortcut to both the Quick Settings panel and the Quick Settings widget, ensuring convenient access to the voice assistant with just a few taps. This integration enhances the accessibility and user experience for Nothing Phone users, bringing voice assistance to their fingertips.
Including ChatGPT in the Quick Settings panel on Nothing Phone (1) and (2) customers' devices means providing a new level of comfort and voice assistance.
Upon clicking the shortcut available on the Quick Settings panel, ChatGPT automatically starts, and users can immediately access this feature by typing in prompts for ChatGPT to generate information about it.
On the other hand, the ChatGPT shortcut embedded within the widget located on the home screen provides users with an even more accessible means of enjoying the convenience of tapping to launch any voice assistant, such as faking having ChatGT acquired by pressing to set it as a default, the function still not available.
In response to a user's comment on the X post, Carl Pei expressed his enthusiasm for ChatGPT, noting that its responsiveness exceeded expectations. This positive feedback echoes the successful testing of the feature in the beta version of the ChatGPT Android app, discovered by Mishaal Rahman last week.

Beyond serving as a voice assistant, ChatGPT's integration into Nothing phones offers users a versatile tool for various tasks, including text generation, language translation, and creative content creation. This development not only enhances user accessibility but also showcases the broader capabilities of ChatGPT, providing a comprehensive and engaging experience for Nothing phone users.

The widespread use of ChatGPT has prompted users to explore efficient methods for controlling it with their voice. Typing lengthy prompts can be cumbersome, making voice hold an appealing option. The official Android and iOS app offers a seamless solution, allowing users to activate the voice transcription feature and enter prompts effortlessly.
Users can download the official app, sign in, click the voice icon, and speak their prompts. The app transcribes the spoken words into text, enabling users to send precise prompts to ChatGPT. Upgrading to ChatGPT Plus unlocks receiving voice replies from the app.
While the official app simplifies voice control on mobile devices, there is no official way to interact with ChatGPT on the desktop or web using voice commands. Unofficial methods involve using third-party extensions and mods.
Notably, the Voice Control for ChatGPT extension for Chrome or Microsoft Edge allows users to speak directly into the text field, facilitating a conversational experience. Users can install the extension, press and hold the spacebar to speak, and release it to submit the prompt. The extension then reads back the generated results, enhancing the hands-free, speech-driven interaction with ChatGPT.
These methods offer users diverse options to control ChatGPT with their voice, providing a more dynamic and efficient user experience.
