Not very long ago, leaked images of Nokia Lumia 822 surfaced on the Internet. Now rumors indicate that the smartphone will retail for $49.99 on Verizon.
The Lumia 822, also dubbed as Atlas, will add up to the Windows Phone 8 device portfolio on Verizon. The Lumia 822 is supposed to be identical to the Lumia 820. Unlike the Lumia 820, which is expected to be available on AT&T and T-Mobile, the Lumia 822 is expected to be available exclusively on Verizon.
The handset also appeared on Verizon's device management system in September giving hope to Verizon customers who will be keen to own a Nokia Lumia device on the network. The Verizon device management system also indicates that the smartphone will be available in white and gray colors.
Leaked images of the Lumia 822 surfaced on WMPoweruser.com. Now, the Web site also indicates that the smartphone will be available to Verizon customers for $49.99 on a two-year contract.
The Lumia 822 is slightly different than the Lumia 820 when it comes to the design and has rounded corners. Just like the Lumia 820, the Lumia 822 is speculated to be a mid-ranged smartphone with modest features. The smartphone is rumored to sport a 3.5-inch WVGA display with 899 x 480 pixels resolution.
A 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor is expected to power the smartphone. The device will have 16GB of on-board storage and a microSD card slot to expand the memory. The device is also expected to boast an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera and will have a front-facing one. The device is expected to include 1GB RAM.
The Lumia 822 is expected to feature wireless charging, but the shell will not be removable or replaceable. WMPoweruser.com also indicated that the handset will feel plastic-like, just like the HTC Trophy smartphone.
The details regarding the availability date are not yet known but with Windows Phone 8 launching later in October this year, Verizon customers will hope for the Lumia 822 to follow sometime in November this year.
