The U.S. exclusive HTC Droid DNA and the Japan-only counterpart HTC J Butterfly is now expected to debut in the international market under the name of HTC Deluxe (DLX).
HTC fans outside the U.S. and Japan may now experience the magic of the powerful HTC Deluxe with its high-end specifications. As the phablet is now rolled out internationally, even though under different names, Samsung may see the HTC Deluxe as one of the biggest rivals to its highly touted Galaxy Note 2 in the global phablet arena.
Specifications and features of the of the HTC Deluxe are expected to be the same as the Droid DNA but leaked images suggest that the handset will be available in black, brown, and white colors.
The Droid DNA sports a 5-inch Super LCD3 capacitive touchscreen display, which packs 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution and a whopping 441 pixels per inch (ppi). The smartphone also has a full HD display. The Droid DNA is the first HTC smartphone to get such a high display resolution and pixels density, indicating that the company wants to kill all competition when it comes to the display of the smartphone.
The device is equipped with a 1.5GHz quad-core Krait CPU with Qualcomm MDM615m/APQ8064 chipset. The phablet also has an Adreno 320 GPU and 2GB of RAM. The Droid DNA has 16GB of on-board storage and no option for a microSD card. However, HTC may get a microSD card slot in the international version HTC Deluxe.
Google's recent Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and HTC's most recent Android interface the Sense 4+ runs on the handset out of the box. A 2020mAh battery fuels the Droid DNA and supports up to 12 hours and 40 minutes of talk time.
The Droid DNA boasts an 8-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash, and a 2.1-megapixel front-facing camera. Users can also shoot video at 1080p with stereo sound and video stabilization.
Connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Near Field Communication (NFC) are available on the device.
Verizon has started selling the Droid DNA for $199.99 on a two-year contract and $599.99 on a month-to-month basis. Verizon is also offering the staunch competitor of the Droid DNA, Galaxy Note 2, at a higher price tag of $299.99 on a two-year contract and $699.99 on a month-to-month basis. However, no details of prices and availability of the international HTC Deluxe version are currently known.
Speculations suggest that the HTC Deluxe will make its official appearance either at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in January next year or at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in February next year.
If you are planning to buy a 5-inch or over phablet, will you put the Droid DNA (HTC Deluxe) in the comparison list?
