Despite the amount of Galaxy branded devices released in 2012, Samsung is in no mood of slowing down the Galaxy takeover. The company is dropping an all-new Galaxy, which is said to be the Galaxy Grand.
The device, which goes by the Samsung SHV-E270L name, came out flashing itself on the FCC and is expected to be the next device in the Galaxy line up. Codenamed the "Baffin," this smartphone's specifications pack a punch. It is very similar to the Galaxy S3 with just a few differentials that some fans of the Galaxy line-up may not take kindly to.
Per reports, the Samsung SHV-E270L is coming equipped with LTE, Bluetooth, and a quad-core processor that is clocked at 1.4GZ. Sounds great so far, doesn't it? Hold that excitement back a little and brace yourselves for a shocker. As impressive as this device may seem, it falls short with a 5-inch WVGA display that only has an 800x480 resolution. The reason behind this move by Samsung is because the company is aiming this handset at older customers who require bigger text and icons on-screen.
Furthermore, because of this move by Samsung, the "Baffin" may not make it outside of Korea, since a powerful handset with a low resolution has little chance of succeeding in the U.S. and Europe, no matter who or what is its target audience.
Other specifications include Android 4.1, Samsung Smart Stay features that are found in the Galaxy S3, and a massive 2100mAh battery to power that huge display with its low resolution. No doubt that the Galaxy Grand is a powerful device, probably too powerful for old folks who just want to send and receive a phone call, or read a few things without the need to be straining their eyes to see the simplest of words.
