Samsung is slated to push out the Android Jelly Bean update for its Galaxy S Advance in January, per reports. The information was disclosed via Samsung Germany's Facebook page.
Previously, rumors suggested that the update would be rolled out in November. Additionally, Samsung announced that the Galaxy S Advance, which is currently running on Gingerbread, would skip the update to ICS and get straightaway Jelly Bean instead.
According to the Facebook page, the update will be available both via Kies software and over-the-air (OTA).
"Dear fans, more and more devices will now receive the update to Android Jelly Bean. Even the Galaxy S I9070 Advance gets this and is available in January on gravel or over-the-air is available," stated Samsung Germany's Facebook page (translated).
However, no details of the exact release date have been disclosed yet, and users will have to wait for another announcement. It is also not known which version of Android Jelly Bean will be pushed out i.e. Android 4.2 or Android 4.1.2, but a high probability exists that the Galaxy S Advance will get the latter since the former is relatively new.
The Galaxy S Advance sports a 4-inch Super AMOLED display (800 x 480 pixels resolution), a dual-core processor, a 5-megapixel primary camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera. Considering that the device currently runs on Android 2.3.6 Gingerbread, users of the Galaxy S Advance will welcome the news.
However, judging by the past, the reliability of the news via the company's Facebook page remains questionable. Earlier, Samsung Sweden had let on that the Galaxy S2 would get the Jelly Bean update in November, which it later re-updated to December. Hopefully, Samsung Germany is right and won't disappoint.
With the Jelly Bean update on the cards, it seems that Samsung, unlike other manufacturers, has not forgotten its older devices in favor of the newer ones and is leaving no stone unturned to keep its customers happy.
