iPhone 5 is still selling like hot cakes and rumors have already started to surface regarding the next iteration of the iPhone. Speculations suggest that Apple will introduce the next member of the iPhone family, which may be called iPhone 6, in mid 2013.
iFans will hope that Apple will launch the next iPhone within 12 months of the iPhone 5 release date. However, with iPad 4 launched just over six months from the iPad 3, it may not come as a surprise if the next iPhone makes its appearance before the 12 month launch cycle.
"Apple is expected to introduce its next-generation iPad and iPhone series around the middle of 2013, which will boost demand for ICs in particular communications related chips during the latter half of the first quarter, according to the observers. Component orders placed by Apple, which climbed to high levels prior to the iPhone 5 rollout, will rise again between March and April, the observers indicated," reported DigiTimes.
Chinese Web site China Times has indicated that the device will be released much sooner, with production expected to begin as early as December this year of a trial run of between 50,000 and 100,000 units of the next-generation iPhone.
However, Gene Munster, an analyst with Piper Jaffray indicates that the next iPhone will be launched in September next year.
Rumors suggest that the iPhone 6 is expected to see a faster processor, more RAM, and identical design to the current iPhone. Users will hope that Apple will take the opportunity to fix some of the issues faced by iPhone 5 owners like the purple flare camera issue.
A new patent application also shows Apple's interest in Wireless Charging indicating the next iPhone may have Wireless Charging.
The rumor mill of the iPhone 6 has started to build. We will have to wait and see what other rumors are added to the purported iPhone 6.
If you are an iPhone 5 user, what fixes and changes will you want in the iPhone 6? Will you the iPhone 6 if released in mid 2013?
