Samsung seems to be on song to add to its kitty of upcoming Galaxy devices for 2013. Rumors have been rampant that the company is set to release the Galaxy S4 next year, and now reports suggest that Samsung has another new high-end smartphone - the Galaxy Grand DUOS - in the pipeline.
The Galaxy Grand DUOS is believed to be a dual-SIM version of the Galaxy Grand.
The Galaxy Grand or "Baffin", supposedly a combination of the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2, popped up in FCC leaks earlier in November and now, per a SamMobile report, Samsung will announce the Galaxy Grand DUOS - dubbed the "GT-I9082" - in January.
"Samsung to announce a new kind of Galaxy product in January namely the Samsung Galaxy Grand DUOS," reported SamMobile.
According to the report, the tipster has let on that the Galaxy Grand DUOS will be available in two colors - Elegant White and Metallic White. The GT-I9082 will be a new high-end smartphone offering from the company; however, the tipster was unable to give details of the device's specifications.
Previously leaked specifications of the Galaxy Grand have pointed to a 5-inch LCD screen with 800 x 480 pixels resolution, a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos processor. The Galaxy Grand DUOS is speculated to pack in a 2100mAh battery, similar dimensions to the Galaxy S3, and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean. The smartphone is also rumored to be Wi-Fi and NFC enabled, and will be dual-SIM.
The supposed specifications, however, contradict the claims of a high-end smartphone and lean more towards a mid-range device. However, the leaks had also clamored that the Galaxy Grand would release in Korea in November, and since that didn't happen a high possibility exists that the specifications, especially the resolution, may be different when and if the device launches as a dual-SIM variant i.e. the Galaxy Grand DUOS.
With Samsung gravitating more and more towards bigger screens and several smartphones in the anvil, come 2013, consumers will be spoilt for choice when choosing from a slew of Android-powered smartphone offerings from the company.
