Samsung, lately, has been reported to be busy preparing the Android 4.1.2 updates, and while the first Galaxy Note is yet to see an Android OS refresh, per reports, the new Galaxy Note 2 has already started getting the updated Android Jelly Bean operating system.
Currently, both the regular international Galaxy Note 2, model GT-N7100, and the LTE version, model GT-N7105, are seeing Android 4.1.2 updates arrive. Samsung has also listed a number of changes that are present in the update, including some brand new TouchWiz features.
The Galaxy Note 2, per a SamMobile report, “is one of the best sellings Android Device of 2012 and has a very large user base that’s why Samsung keeps on updating this device with all the new Android versions as they want to provide the Galaxy Note II users with their best support experience.”
However, users need to be patient with the update procedure as they might not be able to update their device to Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean right away because the update is rolling out in phases. If that’s so, then it means that the update has still not reached the certain country and is pending. Now it seems like the only countries to have received the update are Poland and Sweden (LTE).
As far as features are concerned, Android Central states that the biggest changes “seem to be focused around the top of the screen. The notification shade is now customizable, so if you're not a fan of extraneous toggles and brightness dials, you can turn them off. If you keep your notification shade quick-controls, you'll notice new additions such as the ability to toggle the multi-window feature on and off.”
“The notification bar itself has also changed slightly, going from grey back to black. And the lock screen's been changed up a little, with a new, optional ink effect in the on-screen "pool" when unlocking the device,” the report further adds.
Samsung also claims that the update is set to deliver enhanced browser performance, and there are few new controls for disabling the split-screen Multi Window View mode. Other aesthetic changes include a status bar recoloring and and new ink effect on the phone’s lockscreen. Samsung’s keyboard also gets a tweak of its own, adding swipe input.
The Android 4.1.2 update, normally, delivers new one-finger notification gesture controls, and Samsung continues to improve notifications by adding its own customization options. There is an option to disable the brightness slider, for instance.
