Speculation has been rife that Sony is working on two new 5-inch Android-powered smartphones - the Xperia Yuga and Xperia Odin - thanks to the leaks. Now, reports suggest that the Sony Xperia Yuga will be unveiled at the CES 2013 and will feature the Samsung Exynos Quad CPU, which is speculated to be for the Galaxy Note 3.
According to a post on the it168 forum, the Sony Yuga or C660X will have the following specifications:
The forum poster also let on that the device will make its appearance at the CES 2013 as a "major surprise", and disclosed that the Exynos 5 quad-core processor that will power the Yuga will be used by the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and not the Galaxy S4 .
"Sony originally planned with 8974 but the look is still not strong enough, so it turned to Samsung products, the chip is not used for GS4 but for GN3,"noted the forum poster (translated).
Rumors have also indicated that the Yuga will have a glass chassis and will be Sony's flagship device for 2013.
With the trend for 2013 leaning towards 1080p smartphones, it will be interesting to see if these 5-inch plus devices generate as much excitement post launch in the consumer market. With another month to go for the CES 2013 in Las Vegas, we will have to wait and see what Sony unleashes on the market.
