With the popularity of smartphones sporting 5+inch screens and sporting the "Phablet" moniker on the rise, Sony is getting ready to enter the market with its very own 5-inch Phablet.
Samsung has seen great success with its Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note 2 phablets which feature screen sizes of 5.3-inches and 5.55-inches respectively. HTC has also recently entered the phablet market with the Verizon Droid DNA which sports a 5-inch 1080p HD screen. It looks like Sony doesn't want to be late to the party and plans on introducing its first 5-inch phablet very soon.
Pictures have leaked on Russian site Mobile-Review of Sony's upcoming Yuga phablet, which is expected to be Sony's flagship device in 2013.
The Yuga is rumored to have some pretty impressive specs when it ships. It supposedly will have an 5-inch HD screen with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, a very impressive 440 ppi (pixels per inch), and will use Sony's Bravia Engine for excellent color reproduction.
The phablet will sport a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU with Adreno 320 graphics, as well as 2GB of RAM. Sony is expected to ship the Yuga with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The device will come equipped with USB host, a micro-HDMI port, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, NFC and an LTE radio. In terms of camera, it will feature a 12-megapixel camera and will also feature a microSD slot supporting up to 128GB microSD cards for expansion.
Let's hope battery life is good because Yuga is expected to ship with a non-removable battery. Sony is expected to unveil the Yuga at CES in January 2013.
