Rumor has it that Google-owned Motorola is working on the successor of its Droid Razr M, dubbed the Droid Razr M HD, which will sport a whopping 3,300mAh battery.
The first-generation Droid Razr M is just three months old and, therefore, the news of its successor comes as a bit of a surprise. Whether the leaked specifications of the new Droid Razr M HD smartphone in the works are legit and can be given credence remains circumspect.
Per a PhoneArena report, an anonymous tipster has disclosed the details of the purported Droid Razr M HD to the site. However, what is interesting is that the tip off is not supported by any leaked images of the device in question.
"Specs for an alleged Motorola Droid Razr M HD have just leaked out and our anonymous source whispers some interesting details about a 4.5-inch Jelly Bean device with an HD screen and position closer to the mid-range," reported PhoneArena.
According to the leaked specifications, the Droid Razr M HD will have a 4.5-inch HD capacitive, multi-touch display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution and a pixel density of 326 ppi. The smartphone will measure 5.15 x 2.52 x .035 inches and weigh 5.22 ounces. The device will have features like a light sensor, proximity sensor, and scratch-resistant glass in tow.
The Droid Razr M HD is also rumored to pack in a mammoth 3,300mAh battery, which is a bump up of 1,300mAh from the previous generation, that will support up to 21.25 hours of talk time and 15.65 hours of standby time.
A dual-core 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Plus MSM8960 processor is expected to power the smartphone, which is the same as the Droid Razr M. The new device is expected to have 16GB of on-board storage and 1GB of RAM, as well as the option to expand the memory to an additional 32GB via a microSD card. The smartphone is expected to also have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean out of the box.
The specs of the Droid Razr M HD are uncannily similar to the original Droid Razr M, which would lead one to wonder that since most follow-up devices are an improvement on the original, why Motorola is not taking the same route barring the battery?
Moreover, usually specification and feature details trickle in slowly and not as comprehensively as the one doled out by the anonymous tipster, which would lead one to question if the details are so easy to come by, why not an image of the alleged device?
The Droid Razr M HD rumor should be taken with a pinch of salt, even though the release of a follow-up device would seem to be a logical move for Motorola.
