Samsung Galaxy S4 seems to be making all the right noises prior to its release and the rumor mongers, it seems, just can't get enough of the purported next-gen smartphone. The Galaxy S4 aka the "GT-I9500X" is in the news yet again after the smartphone's model number was spotted in Samsung's online Global Download Center.
Recently, alleged first-ever press images of the Galaxy S4 surfaced online. Even a hands-on preview mock-up video showing the Galaxy S4 in action was spotted. Speculations have ranged from whether the Galaxy S4 will be Samsung's first-ever Tizen device or continue to be Android-based. What's more, the device's model number "GT-I9500" and "GT-I9505" (LTE version) were spotted in the wild.
Now, reports assert that they have spotted the "GT-I9500X" in Samsung's online Global Download Center, where one can get "downloadable content for Samsung's Products or service sold throughout the world."
"Samsung device has appeared in the official website codenamed GT-i9500X. It seems that the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S4 is imminent," noted an Android Chaotic report (translated).
The site apparently chanced across the codename for the new Samsung device on the company's Global Download Center thanks to a Japanese blog.
Even though the Galaxy S4 name does not appear anywhere on the Samsung site, the "GT-I9500X" is undoubtedly a smartphone as that is the "subtype" under which it is listed. Currently, one cannot download anything for this model, which makes us wonder why it would be listed at all!
Samsung's Galaxy S3 is GT-I9300 and since the number '4' is considered unlucky in Korea, it is likely that the Korean company will skip the "GT-I9400" model number in favour of "GT-I9500." However, the "GT-I9500X" is a different model number and could hint at a Galaxy S4 variation. Perhaps, the model that Jay Lee, Vice Chairman of Samsung Electronics, is rumored to be carrying with him to the CES 2013, and is tipped to show it off to business partners behind closed doors.
