T-Mobile will turn the switch on to its 4G LTE network within the next week or two. T-Mobile 's first 4G LTE network will available in Las Vegas, followed by launches in new markets over the next few months. Some current AT&T and T-Mobile LTE devices should run on the network with a software update.
Galaxy Note 2 phablet owners will be happy to know that their decision to choose a T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 will pay off, as it is expected to be the first device to take advantage of T-Mobile's 4G LTE network. T-Mobile's Galaxy Note 2 ships with a dormant LTE radio that will be enabled, according to T-Mobile's CTO Neville Ray. "There will be a period when markets are up but we don't have devices yet. The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 can be with an over-the-air software update," Ray said.
This news is very welcoming to current T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 owners. Their device (depending on coverage) will be able to run on the carrier's 4G LTE network, and there's no need to buy a new T-Mobile LTE device when it begins selling devices designed specifically and advertised to run on its 4G LTE network.
AT&T and Verizon Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phablets are shipped with their LTE radios turned on, allowing them to take advantage of 4G LTE speeds. The 5.5-inch phablet is proving to be very popular with expected sales coming in at over 10 million devices sold in 5 months. This could accelerate sales of T-Mobile's Galaxy Note 2 as customers have officially been told that a software update will enable the LTE radio on their smartphone and they will be able to take advantage of T-Mobile's 4G LTE network when it becomes available in their area. That's a nice perk, isn't it?
