Nokia fans in India have some good news headed their way as the much awaited Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 smartphones have finally hit the Indian shelves.
Nokia launched its flagship Lumia 920 and the Lumia 820 Windows Phone 8-powered smartphones in India on Jan. 10, and the device started retailing the very next day.
The WP8 smartphone offerings from Nokia will be available via Nokia's online store with free shipping, as well as in the brick and mortar stores.
The Lumia 920 packs in a 4.5-inch ClearBlack IPS with PureMotion HD+ technology. The smartphone has a fantastic 8.7-megapixel primary camera that packs in PureView technology and Carl Zeiss optics for a superior performance. It is fueled by a 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon S4 processor and also supports wireless charging.
The Lumia 820, on the other hand, sports a slightly smaller 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED WVGA display (800 x 480 pixels resolution). A 1GHz dual-core processor powers the device, which also features an 8-megapixel primary camera.
The high-end Lumia 920 will set users back by Rs.38,199 ($697) and the Lumia 820 will cost Rs. 27,599 ($504). These prices are for the unlocked versions.
The Lumia 920's pricing makes it more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy S3 in India, but cheaper than the iPhone 5. The Lumia 920's pricing is a little on the steep side, especially when compared to other high-end phones in the same league.
Other WP8 phones like the HTC 8X and HTC 8S are also available in the region, but are priced much lower which is expected given the smartphones' modest specs.
Nokia also announced that it would be releasing the budget friendly 3.8-inch Lumia 620 WP8 smartphone in February; however, the company did not disclose the price and exact date of release.
