Research In Motion (RIM) will soon launch its latest operating system BlackBerry 10 on Jan. 30. Now, reports suggest the latest BlackBerry handset Z10 will also launch next week and sport a price tag of less than $199 on contract.
RIM seems to be on the track to unveil its latest OS and smartphones at its upcoming event and potentially reclaim some of its lost market share from smartphone makers like Apple, Samsung, LG, HTC, etc.
According to a BGR report, RIM will be pricing its BlackBerry Z10 for less than $199, possibly around the $149 price point.
"We have heard that RIM is planning to launch the BlackBerry Z10 at a price point that's under the standard $199 price tag for a flagship phone, so expect something at $149 or below with two year agreement," reported BGR.
An excellent operating system that packs top-end and user friendly features, coupled with a competitive price-point, may help RIM reclaim lost glory.
The rumor mills have been abuzz with BlackBerry leaks for a while now. Consumers will be hoping that the new BlackBerry 10 devices have some features such as a voice-recognition assistant like Siri, a maps app like Google Maps, and more. Additionally, the presence of an array of apps may also prove vital for a successful launch of BlackBerry 10.
Jan. 30 is a highly-awaited date for both RIM as all eyes will be on the purported all-touch BlackBerry Z10 and the BlackBerry X10 with a physical QWERTY keyboard.
We will have to wait and see what RIM pulls out of the bag, and if the Canadian company can turn the tide in its favor once again.
