Samsung fans who were hoping that the Galaxy Note 3 will make a surprise debut at the MWC 2013 next month are in for some disappointing news. Per reports, the Galaxy Note 3 phablet will be a no-show at the MWC, but will be unveiled in September at the IFA 2013 instead.
The IFA 2013 launch date means that Samsung will keep up the tradition and maintain a one-year cycle for the Galaxy Note lineup. The Korean company took the wraps off its Galaxy Note 2 at the IFA in Berlin in September last year.
"Samsung Galaxy Note 3 will reportedly be released at the IFA event close to the iPhone 6 launch. According to The Korea Times, we may not see the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 until IFA 2013 in September. This could make a great deal of sense as the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 was revealed at this time last year," noted a International Business Times report.
According to The Korea Times report, the Galaxy Note 3 will be released in the second half of the year at the IFA, and will sport the rumored 6.3-inch display and the new Exynos 5 Octa-core processor.
The IFA 2013 is scheduled to be held from Sept. 6 to Sept. 11. The speculated September launch suggests that Samsung would be throwing the gauntlet yet again to Apple, as the latter is speculated to launch its iPhone 6 around the same time.
Additionally, the September date will work in Samsung's favor, giving it a healthy time window between its Galaxy S4, slated for a March launch, and the Galaxy Note 3.
With Samsung staying mum, we will have to wait and see what the coming months bring in their folds, and if the Galaxy Note 3 can surpass its predecessor's success.
With Apple and Samsung set to lock horns yet again, September should be an interesting month.
