The heavily rumored and highly anticipated upcoming PlayStation 4 from Sony is always in news for different reasons, but this new information could seem to a few fans as one of the most accurate in the recent months.
Per reports, apart from revealing a brand new set of device specifications for the PlayStation 4, the new information via VGLeaks has also shed some light on the accessories Sony will be bundling with the system.
Although these new specifications may seem similar to the ones previously revealed by a host of sites, this new one actually contains more information, and even a diagram of the Orbis, which by now everybody knows is the codename for the PlayStation 4.
Interestingly, the new console contains an impressive CPU with eight Jaguar cores clocked at 1.6 Ghz along with a 4GB GDDR5 RAM, running at an amazingly fast speed. Moreover, the GPU has a DirectX 11.1+ feature set that is clocked at 800 Mhz. Apart from these, it also has a Blu-ray drive running at 6x speed, although reading speed varies.
The device contains a Liverpool SOC which boasts the custom implementation of AMD Fusion APU Architecture (Accelerated Processing Unit). This means that it is bound to provide good performance with low power consumption. There is also the integrated CPU and GPU, and this makes it considerably bigger and more powerful than AMD's other APUs.
The PS4 could also feature a 4 GB unified system memory with 176 GB per second, with an estimated 3.5 available to games. There is also the high speed Blu-ray drive supporting single layer (25 GB) or dual layer (50 GB) discs, with partial constant angular velocity (PCAV).
As far as the console's accessories are concerned, it has been stated that the PlayStation 4 will arrive with Dual Camera, an evolved Dualshock controller, and a Move controller. Extra stuff include video encode and decode (VCE/UVD) units, Zlib Decompression Hardware, Audio Processor (ACP), and Display ScanOut Engine (DCE).
For those who are confused regarding the device's GPU, each CU contains a dedicated Texture Unit, Local Data Share (LDS), L1 data cache, and ALU (32 64-bit operations per cycle). Moreover, there are four additional CUs (410 Gflops) 'extra' ALU as resource for compute, alongside minor boost kept aside if rendering is needed.
