Windows Phone 8 fans who have been eagerly waiting for Huawei's Ascend W1 to hit the shelves have some good news heading their way. Per reports, the Ascend W1 is set to release in Germany in early February.
According to a WPArea report, the Ascend W1 is already listed on German retailers' Web sites for a price tag of €199.95. One retailer in particular, Conrad, has a listing for both the black and blue variants of the WP8-powered smartphone and will retail them from Feb. 7.
Per the WPArea report, Conrad previously listed the date as Feb. 5 and later updated it to Feb. 7.
"Shortly after the report was released, Conrad has revised upwards the availability date. Fortunately, there are only two days, so the Ascend W1 from 7 February is available," notes the report (translated).
However, Conrad's listing now shows the availability date as Feb. 8. Additionally, the February release date contradicts Huawei's announcement of an April release.
"The Huawei Ascend W1 will be available in Germany from April 2013 for a suggested retail price of EUR 219," noted Huawei's press release (translated).
The Ascend W1 sports a 4-inch IPS LCD with OGS Technology and packs in a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8230 processor that is clocked at 1.2GHz. It has 512MB of RAM, 4GB of on-board storage, 5-megapixel primary camera, and a front-facing VGA camera. The smartphone comes pre-loaded with the latest Windows Phone 8 OS.
The Ascend W1 is a budget-friendly WP8 smartphone like Nokia's Lumia 610.
