Fans of the Windows Phone 8 smartphones in the UK have some fantastic news heading their way. UK network operator Vodafone has announced that it will be retailing five WP8-powered handsets, including the Lumia 920 and HTC 8X.
Vodafone UK will make the Nokia and HTC WP8 smartphones available from Wednesday, Feb. 6. The arsenal of smartphones that run on the latest Windows Phone 8 OS from Microsoft are Lumia 920, Lumia 820, Lumia 620, HTC 8X, and HTC 8S.
"The Nokia Lumia 920, 820 and 620, as well as the Windows Phone 8X and 8S by HTC, make up our new Windows Phone 8 army, and they'll all be available to buy from Wednesday, 6th February," stated the Vodafone Social blog post.
Earlier in October 2012, post the Microsoft announcement, Vodafone had disclosed that it would be retailing some of the aforementioned Windows Phone 8 smartphones. Now the network operator is finally ready to unleash the smartphones for customers.
"Windows Phone 8 is nearly here. Since announcing that we'd be stocking the phones in a post late last year, we've been working day and night to get the new breed of Windows Phone devices through our network tests unscathed. Now that work's come to an end, and we're almost ready to get all five of our Windows Phone 8 handsets into stores and into your hands," Vodafone said.
With Vodafone UK stocking the Nokia Lumia 920 and HTC 8X, it has two high-end smartphones on offer. The Lumia 820 and HTC 8S are the mid-range offerings, whereas the Lumia 620 will cater to budget conscious consumers' needs.
Apart from Vodafone, network operators Three (Lumia 920, Lumia 620, HTC 8X, and HTC 8S), O2 (Samsung ATIV S, Lumia 820, Lumia 620, HTC 8X, and HTC 8S) and EE (Lumia 920 and Lumia 820) also offer the WP8 handsets.
Vodafone UK is yet to reveal the pricing for its line-up of Windows Phone 8 smartphones, but with the pick of the WP8 devices on offer, the carrier seems to be on the right track.
