The Nexus 4 is living up to its expectations of being one of the most popular smartphones around and the Google Play Store seems to be the biggest evidence for that.
Per reports, the highly popular Nexus 4 8GB that was put up by Google on the company’s Play Store for customers to purchase is out of stock yet again. This, however, is not the first time that something like this has happened.
The device, after making a triumphant return to the Google Play Store, was initially being offered with shipping times of one to two weeks. Later, unable to handle the immense amount of customer popularity and want for the device, the company radically changed the device’s shipping time to two to three weeks. Now, however, the device is anyway out of stock.
The Nexus 4 8GB made its comeback on the Google Play Store only last week, alongside the Nexus 4 16GB. Although both these devices had been successfully sold out since December, the company, seeing the popularity, again introduced the devices with shipping times of one to two weeks, and this, per a Gotta Be Mobile report, was “much faster than the devices were advertised for just before they went completely out of stock through Google Play.”
“In the days after their return, the devices did some interesting things. First, rather unexpectedly, the Nexus 8GB saw its shipping times move from one to two weeks to two to three weeks. While certainly not amazing, the times were again much better than they had been in 2012.”
The 16GB model, on the other hand, moved forward with the device shipping time shifting from one to two weeks to less than a week. However, current reports are now stating that the Nexus 4 8GB model is back in stock once again on the U.S. Play Store, with a shipping estimate of 2-3 weeks.
However, those who are still looking to get their hands on the device, more specifically the 16GB version, there’s some good news from T-Mobile. Apparently, the carrier’s Web site currently has the 16GB Nexus 4 in stock, and is offering the handset for just $49.99 with a two-year contract, alongside $50 mail-in rebate.
However, it is accepted that the T-Mobile deal won’t really attract those who are looking to get the phone for Google's $349 no-contract price.
