Apple has released a new iTunes version 11.0.2 bringing in a new Composer view for music alongside a slew of bug fixes and performance improvements.
The 54.2MB software update notably brings in a new Composer view for music which can be accessed under View Options> Composer. It's not limited to classical music fans alone, rather most iTunes downloads and CDs ripped with access to the online database Apple uses for iTunes have Composer data embedded with them, The Mac Observer notes. In case the feature is turned off by default, upon activation, users will receive a new button between "Artists" and "Genres" that will then group their music by composer. "Many pop and rock bands and their albums have a variety of composers credited for individual songs, and most country albums are written by a who's who of people other than the recording artist. Apple's new Composers view gives you a new way of exploring your library with that in mind," the report details the new feature.
"This update adds a new Composers view for music, improves responsiveness when syncing playlists with a large number of songs, and fixes an issue where purchases may not show up in your iTunes library. This update also includes other stability and performance improvements," Apple said in its release note.
The major bug fixes with iTunes 11.0.2 include an issue were purchased items were not showing up in users' iTunes libraries. It also improves the responsiveness when syncing playlists with a large number of songs.
This update is based on Apple's redesign of iTunes which added cloud integration with it back in Nov. 2012. Bringing in a complete redesign of the digital storefront, iTunes 11 was released for much fanfare including many enhancement including improved search, a simplified MiniPlayer, and new iCloud integration. One month later, Apple updated iTunes 11 to v11.0.1 to fix the disappearing AirPlay button and enabled the system with the ability to display all of your duplicate library items. With iCloud integration, all the iTunes purchases were made available in the cloud and users could access them from their iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, PC or Apple TV.
The update comes on the heels of Apple releasing a Java update to fix a vulnerability where cyber hackers were able to access the computers of Apple employees. The iTunes update also comes shortly after Apple's iOS 6.1.2 update to address various bugs including Exchange calendar related issues and passcode unlock bug.
Users can now download iTunes 11.0.2 directly from Apple's support site or from the Mac App Store.
