The Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 now sports a $99 price tag on Amazon, provided customers agree to a two-year contract with the carrier.
Samsung already announced that owners of both the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 2 will get a taste of the new software and the features of the newly-unveiled Samsung Galaxy S4, so a price drop may tempt even more buyers now.
The offer on Amazon amounts to significant savings, as Sprint sells the "phablet" for $299 in its retail stores and online store. The new $99 price tag on Amazon and the guarantee of more cool software in the future comes ahead of the rumored Galaxy Note 3 prototype unveiling.
The Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 comes with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, but is upgradable out of the box to Android 4.1.2. The phablet is also upgradable to Samsung's Premium Suite upgrade, which adds a slew of exciting and unique features.
Some of the new features available for the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 include a new customizable notifications panel, smart rotation, new NDC and reader features, as well as multi-window functionality, allowing users to separate their screen into two windows and use two apps at the same time.
The Samsung Premium Suite upgrade will also add contextual menus: menus that automatically adjust based on the user's previous and most frequent actions. Galaxy Note 2 users can also set up a music program to launch as soon as the device detects plugged-in headphones.
Meanwhile, the in-camera application sports new tagging features, and an optional notifications ticker is now available from the lock screen. Samsung's Galaxy line of devices is wildly popular worldwide, and such specific, unique features had a big role in that success.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 may not be fresh out on the market, but it is still considered the very best phablet out there. That success will likely become even more resonant now that Amazon is offering the Sprint Galaxy Note 2 for just $99 on a two-year contract. The retailer lists the device as "in stock" and "usually" ready to ship within 24 hours.
