Verizon Wireless is slowly building out what it calls its next network upgrade, which is expected to more than double Internet speeds. On this network, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the first smartphone device to take advantage of the new speeds, something Android fans could find extremely pleasing.
The good thing about the Verizon Galaxy S4, is that it possesses the hardware to work on the carrier's next network, according to Bloomberg. However, it will not work right from the beginning; a small software upgraded will be required to get the Galaxy S4 ready to take advantage of the AWS frequency.
Verizon's next network initiative should begin rolling out to major cities in the U.S. in just a few months. Currently, the Galaxy S4 is the only smartphone device that is capable of taking advantage of this super speed LTE network. However, in the coming months, more smartphone will come onboard with support, which could really drive adoption.
The new Verizon network is necessary due to the increased usage of data by consumers. According to Mike Haberman, vice president of network support, 4G LTE data usage will be 6 to 7 times greater in the next three years. This means if wireless networks like Verizon does not put things in place; subscribers could experience extensive slow-downs in their mobile Internet wireless broadband connection.
On Monday, May 27, Verizon Wireless began offering the Galaxy S4 for sale at the cool price of $199 ona two-year contract. The Samsung Galaxy S4 debuted in March and, so far, the device has been experiencing a whole lot of success, probably more than what Samsung had expected.
With its 4.99-inch display, plastic design, 13-megapixel camera, and a super-fast processor, Verizon could have a winner on its hands.
