The LG Optimus G2 is expected to launch in the third quarter of this year as the company's new flagship and the device just leaked again.
New flagships always leak ahead of their official announcements and the upcoming LG Optimus G2 is no exception. The smartphone is expected to be a major improvement over its predecessor, the original LG Optimus G.
LG is reportedly putting some of its best work into the Optimus G2 smartphone and the handset is expected to boast a full HD display potentially with a plastic unbreakable substrate, a blazing-fast Snapdragon 800 processor and some touch areas on the back of the device that would serve for navigation. The smartphone is also expected to sport a thinner bezel and a maximized screen-to-phone-size ratio.
After tipster @evleaks published a number of images of a new LG device that could be the LG Optimus 2, TechTastic now has obtained and published a new picture of the purported device, which seems to confirm the name of the device as well. The leaked picture shows the Optimus G2 being tested internally, with the device's recovery mode giving users the option to send an email to G2-SW-Stability@lge.com. As TechTastic notes, the G2-SW-Stability will likely stand for Optimus G2 software stability.
The newly-leaked photo seems to fall in line with previous images from @evleaks, but don't give much merit to the thinner bezel claims. On the other hand, this might be just some sort of engineering prototype, that is if it's the real deal to begin with. The image might be real, however, considering that it resembles previous leaks from @evleaks, who has a great track record when it comes to unannounced devices.
The image TechTastic now leaked doesn't show any buttons on the front of the device either and no visible side keys, which may bolster the claim of backside navigation. Another explanation would be that the LG Optimus G2 might simply sport on-screen buttons.
Either way, keep in mind that LG has yet to announce the LG Optimus G2, or whatever name the handset will have, so take all rumors with a grain of salt.
